This switch is a genuine Makita replacement switch. This shaft lock switch prevents spindle rotation when installing/removing accessories. This piece is sold individually. A screwdriver is all that is needed for this quick repair.

1. Opened case - remove screws

3. Carefully disconnect all connectors from bracjets and switch.

I followed the instructions on the video for the external switch replacement. Closer inspection revealed it was the actual power switch inside. I ordered it from Ereplacement Parts.
