Removed the connection box face plate cover removed the positive and negative feed wires, removed the volt meter from the face plate then reinstalled in reverse order, then test ran the generator to confirm the volt meter was functioning properly.
Tip: Make sure to reinstall the wires on the volt meter in the same position
