Generators starter switch was shorting to ground causing engine to stall and die. We use the generator to charge an off-grid solar systems batteries on cloudy/rainy days. It was not producing clean 24

If the battery wasn\'t dead I would have disconnected it first...
Removed (4) screws from plastic cover and the (2) screws holding the capacitor in place.
Took note to remove and replace the wires the same way they were previously installed.
Replaced cover.
Used a flathead screwdriver to depress the tabs holding th e switch in place as I pushed it out from behind.
Took notice of the (3) wire positions as they related to the toggle operation of the switch.
Replaced wires in proper order and pushed the switch back into panel.

Loosened cover plate 4 screws
Unplugged 4 wires noteing location
Used pliers to depress clips on side of old switch
Remove switch
Push in new switch
Install wires coming correctly
Install cover plate 4 screws
Start up
