The most difficult part was removing the old clips from the broken inner lid without damaging the gasket I then let the old lid rest on top of the freezer to hold the cold in the freezer. I didnÆt turn off my freezer. When I removed the light and switch, I had to take care by taping the wire to the outer lid to prevent electrical shock(
... Read morethe safer way to do this is to unplug the freezer). I then used a hair dryer to melt the frost from the insulation. Once the ice was removed, I replaced the insulation in the upper lid using double stick tape and large rubber bands to keep it in place while drying (again, I used the hair dryer to speed up the process). In the meantime, I placed the gasket around the new inner lid (the gasket only fits the attaching holes in one direction). I then discarded the broken inner lid. I began installing the new lid and old gasket. The first step was to replace the light and switch in the new lid. I started by replacing the 4 screws first. Do not tighten them until all clips are in place. This will allow you to adjust the lid so all holes align. Then I placed all clips in the remaining holes, tightened the 4 screws, and closed the lid. Job complete.
Note: Make sure your purchase includes new clips. You canÆt remove the old clips without damaging them.
