This is an authentic OEM supplied replacement primer bulb. It is a specially designed for use on Shindaiwa gas powered trimmers/brushcutters. Its purpose is to create vacuum in the carburetor. When you press down on the bulb, gas from the tank will move into the the carburetor bowl. Excess fuel is then returned back to the fuel tank. It also removes air from the carburetor, which helps the engine start more quickly and easily. It is made from a rubber material and it is sold individually. Over time, the primer bulb may begin to deteriorate or crack. Fortunately, replacing the primer bulb is an easy task. You would need a wrench to complete this job. • Remove the air filter lid • Drain the fuel • Remove the air cleaner case • Remove the carburetor • Remove the primer bulb • Install the primer bulb • Reassemble in reverse order and test the unit
Just make sure that all of your new parts are laid out separately, in order to allow you to keep everything separate from the old parts that you will be removing. ... Read morerts when installing the new parts. I use 90 degree type Allen Head wrenches without handles that way I do not over tighten fasteners. I had gasket material that stuck on me around the intake portal to the piston that needed to be scrapped off, so I brought the piston to TDC and stuffed a small bit of rag in the hole to keep debris from getting inside the head.
I also bought from a local store a replacement muffler and muffler bolts and gasket that was installed during this time as well, but the store did not have the other parts I was needing.
EVERY part that I ordered from eReplacement Parts fit exactly as the old parts, I did not have to make any adjustments to the new parts to get them to fit.
When I was finished, I primed the carburetor, adjusted the choke and slid the on/off button to on, and pulled the cord one time and it fired right up. I adjusted the choke and set it down and let it idle as I put my tools up and cleaned up the area I was working in.
I am very happy with my whole experience dealing with eReplacement Parts. I will be ordering again from them.
What I did was spray down the area on the trimmer where the primer goes with degreaser let it sit for a few minutes and sprayed it off. Dried the area with air, then removed the tabs that holds the fuel tank, removed a fuel line that goes to the primer pump. Removed the 4 screws that holds the bulb, and put in the new primer bulb.
