The internet suggested it would be prudent to replace the whole carburetor and not just the spring attached to the float within the carburetor. With a new lawn mower cost of $329 I thought $82 for the carburetor was a steal. It was incredibly easy to replace and the mower started immediately and has continued to work. All it took was to r emove the top lawn mower cover, loosen the two carburetor bolts and replace it with the new one using the gasket supplied with the carburetor. A word of caution. Be sure you notice which hole on the old carburetor that the throttle cable was placed through so you can be sure to connect it to the same hole on the new part otherwise your mower may run either too low or too high rpm.

Pretty easy to do. Took the old carburetor off and put the new one on and reattached the linkage. It was a perfect fit. I also cleaned out the gas tank, replaced the fuel line, and installed a fuel filter. Lawnmower started on first pull and stayed running. All I need to do now is adjust the idle a little bit.

Replaced the Carburetor but it was probably not necessary. It didn\'t improve the performance of the mower so I suspected a problem with the gas tank or line. Removed the line but no gas spilled out, so I suspected the tank was clogged, turned the cap to open the tank and drain the gas and gas poured out the line, my problem was simply va por lock (no ventilation opening in the cap). Mower is now running like an Indy car (after drilling a small hole in the cap).

I removed the spark plug and keep it connected and pulled on the rope to see if I could see any spark. No spark and it was a new spark plug. Replaced magneto. Started on second pull. Took around 15 minutes to remove and replace all the screws.

Went ahead and replaced Carburetor and air filter.
