To much compression on the compression stroke. Made it nearly impossible to start.

This is my neighbors pressure washer and she could not pull start it any more. Turns out that upon inspecting the engine I found that the exhaust valve was about .015\" out of adjustment. The intake valve appeared to be about half of that out of adjustment as well so I readjusted that also back to factory spec. I decided to take apart the carb and clean it and replace the exhaust gaskets as long as I was ordering parts. The fuel lines fell apart while servicing from the ethanol in the fuel so I needed to replace them. I would recommend that if you are not comfortable doing anything more that general tune up work ie... spark plugs and oil change, then this may not be something you want to tackle. If you don\'t adjust the valves properly and get the engine to actually start you can cause serous engine damage. The other issue I found was once I got the engine squared away water wouldn\'t go through the pump. My neighbor had left soap in the soap tank and it had sat unused for some time. It had hardened to the point that no water could pass through the pump. You would think this would be easy right, just soak it in water. Its only soap. Well boiling the pump didn\'t work, soaking it in vinegar didn\'t work. I had to soak it in a hydrochloric acid solution with a metal corrosion inhibitor for about three hours to clean the pump. My point is DO NOT leave soap in your pressure washers if it will not be used for an extended period of time.

Removed air filter assembly by taking 2 10mm nuts off which also hold the carburetor assembly in place. Then slid off the carburetor while carefully disconnecting the tension spring and throttle rod. Once all parts have been slid off the 2 threaded studs, simply remove all old gaskets and clean off gasket surfaces on carb and insulator. Then reassemble using new gaskets and tighten down the retaining nuts. Replace the filter element with new one and close the cover. Start engine and check for leaks.
