Kohler engine has overhead valves which made the value repair pretty easy. Replaced the intake valve seal since everything was apart. Valve seats looked good but I lapped them in for good measure. I used a drill press spindle to compress the valve springs but it could have been done lots of other ways. It makes it easy to get the clips in since the valve stems are vertical. Lot of cowling and such had to be removed to get the head off. That was straightforward but somewhat of a pain in the butt. Parts from ereplacementparts were factory replacements at a great price with fast free delivery.

Removed engine, shrouds, heads, front cover and pistons. Bad valve was only definite problem. Suspect improperly spaced oil ring end gaps for oil use. No idea what damaged valve. Engine only had 325 hrs. 100 psi and 200 psi compression. Waiting for new belts to deliver so I can find out if repair was successful.
