This is an OEM sourced replacement precleaner element. It is a high quality item commonly utilized on Kohler engines. It fits over the pleated paper filter which is sold separately, adding an extra layer of protection from dust and other contaminants. Please note, one foam precleaner element is included per order. No tools needed to replace this part.
Removed Air Filter Cover. Removed nut that secures air filter. Installed foam pre cleaner element on main Air filter. Using a Ratchet, Extension and Socket, I removed the two mounting bolts on the air cleaner cover mount bracket. Also remove the third bolt that held the air cleaner base. ... Read more gasket and replaced it with a new gasket. Make sure gasket mounting surface is clean. There is a breather hose you have to contend with but it is self explanatory. Just be sure when you re-install the air cleaner base, you pull the breather hose through the base and make sure the grommet on the hose is properly positioned in the air cleaner base. Re-install the mounting bracket ( 2 bolts) and then install the 3rd bolt. It is now ready to re-install the air filter and install the nut that secures the air filter. Now install the filter cover, tighten thumb nut and job is complete.
