This replacement air cleaner element is specially designed for use with small gas powered engines on lawn and garden equipment. It is supplied directly from original equipment manufacturer. Its purpose is to filter out dust and debris from contaminating the carburetor and the engine. This is a pleated paper filter that is sold individually. Please note, the pre-filter is sold separately. To replace this filter no special tools are needed. Simply remove the cover and replace the filter element.

Replaced the cover and air filter along with a new spark plug. The air cleaner cover is held on by a thumb screw so I just popped int the new air cleaner and put on the new cover. I needed the screwdriver to remove the cover to get to the spark plug, and that was removed with the socket wrench.

The lawn mover was for an unknown time outside. The car was completely oxidized and needs to be replaced. I also changed the oil and sharpen the blade.
Watched the YouTube video on replacing the gasket on a Kohler 149cc engine. Followed the steps as suggested. The only problem encountered was that the governor did NOT work after reassembly. ... Read morebly steps. Same result. Unless you only need a minor part, I would NOT suggest taking a Kohler engine apart--a brand new one can be obtained for around $120. Used a wire tie to \"hold\" the governor at about 3000 RPM and it does run well w/o leaking.
