This was a log splitter that would only run with choke full open. Tried couple of things on forums with no luck. When I pulled the carburetor to clean, I found couple of gaskets in bad shape & air filter casing bolted to carb was cracked so figured air was being sucked in around/thru gaskets/casing causing engine to run having too much ai r mixture. All good now. Was difficult to get all gaskets on at one time by slowly pushing the 2 retaining bolts thru as each gasket would be inserted in its place. Very little room to work in. Using your expanded diagrams made sure I had each gasket in correct position. Was amazed at your low prices! Great website!

Replaced all gaskets and seals on the carburetor, making sure all ports, even the smallest were clear. Very important to pay attention to gasket orientation as all the small holes are required to align. Reassembly is difficult as there are almost a dozen pieces that need to be aligned simultaneously.

I cleaned out the carburetor for spring and disassembled the carburetor. When I pulled out the two bolts that hold the air cleaner to the carburetor, the carburetor and all of the gaskets fell out. when I replaced them my mower did not run properly. I bought a workshop manual and all new gaskets to show me the orientation of the gaskets and it runs as good as the day I purchased it.

Log Splitter Honda engine was hunting and would run only when the choke was almost fully closed.

After cleaning the old carburetor (hunting not corrected), installed the new carburetor. The engine continued to hunt. After checking all gaskets closely, discovered that the insulator between the carburetor and engine was installed backwards. This allowed air into the engine downstream of the carburetor, making the engine run lean and overspeed. Putting the insulator on correctly solved the hunting problem.

1. Shut off gasoline line using valve and remove the hose from the carburetor. Using \"gas\" pliers.
2. Remove air filter cover and remove air filter.
3. Remove two mounting bolts behind the air filter. Using 10mm socket.
4. Remove throttle spring and governor bail from carburetor throttle lever.
5. Remove vacuum h ose from the filter housing.
6. For reassembly insert the two mounting screws through the plastic air filter housing and assemble two gaskets paying attention to orientation per exploded view.
7. Place carburetor on the two bolts making sure it is oriented correctly with the controls on top.
8. Continue installing gaskets paying attention to orientation.
9. When ready to put the carburetor on the body of the engine make sure the governor spring and bail are installed. Also be sure that the choke control lever is all the way to the right. The choke lever on the carburetor needs to be to the left of the control lever. Make sure the vacuum hose is back in place on the back of the air cleaner housing. Install the gasoline hose.
10. Tighten the two 10mm hex-head bolts up snuggly. The sleeve inserts will protect the air cleaner housing from being crushed. Make sure they are in place.

I was doing a job for a customer of mine that involved cleaning out their shed, and there was this push mower in there that has seen better days. It was a Craftsman, but had a Honda motor on it. Reliability is what I saw. So getting the mower for free was the best part. Brought it back to my workshop, and started going through it. Changed the oil, spark plug, cleaned the air filter, fresh gas. It fired right up but was running terribly. My first thought was the normal ethanol problem, gummed up the plastic internals of the carburetor. From experience, it\'s not even worth the trouble of tearing it apart. The new replacement carburetor is $17, throwing some fresh gaskets, a new air filter, chute, and the missing air filter cover came to about $60. Runs like a top. Sharpened the blade, basically a brand new mower, for $60.
