Watched your You Tube video instructions for R/R, which was very clear, and which encouraged me to cancel the appointment with the dealer, who wanted to charge me a service charge before selling me the replacement part.

Your demos and your prompt and reasonable replacement was OUTstanding==*****

I had tried to just replace the starter rope but made a BIG mistake. I removed the pulley assy and sprung the spring. Also had two bolts and nuts fused together. My mower is 20 years old. Anyway with the new parts installed in just a few minutes the mower was running on the 2nd pull.

1. Loosen and remove the 3 mounting nuts and washers from the top of the starter-recoil assy. using a socket wrench or similar.
2. Lifted off the old starter-recoil assembly to remove it from the mower.
2.a. To disengage the pull rope from the mower handle assembly I had to slightly open up the looped-form guide with a fla t-blade screwdriver. Will want to do anyway to place the new rope in place through the guide.
3. While I had the starter assembly off I could see that the top of the motor and fin area needed to be cleaned so I did that with a brush and leaf blower. A minutes-worth of work.
4. Place the new starter assembly in place and replace and tighten the 3 mounting nuts & washers.
5. String the pull rope through the guide and consider squeezing the guide back to original position so that the new rope doesn\'t fall out the \"widened\" opening.
