Magneto dead shorted internally

Disassemble top portion of housing area include simple lift out of gas tank. Rope pull housing also.magneto exposed . Magneto removed with 2 bolts. Magneto checked with digital meter coil to ground. Was internally shorted to ground. Reversed for assembly include simple 0.010 gapping of magneto with flywheel. Started second pull. I was thr illed! Then I had to mow......

The Solid State Ignition went out, there was no spark to the spark plug.

It looked like i had to pull the engine out but after looking at it really good all i had to do was remove the mounting bracket on the pulley side, there\'s work involved to get the job done, you have to remove the top cover and the back panel where the controls are, once inside to make it easier to replace the part you have to remove the primer hose and unplug the ignition wires and then remove the crank cover, if you mechanically incline you shouldn\'t have any problems doing this type of repair, if you are not then I recommend taking it in to be repaired.

Lawn mower would not start (no spark at spark plug)

Removed spark plug wire from plug.
Removed 5 screws from pull start housing and removed it.
Removed 4 bolts from the magneto cover and removed the cover exposing the coil/lamination.
Checked the spacing between the coil and the magneto = .007 air space with feiller gauge.
Removed 2 screws holding the old coil and replaced with the new one.
Made sure there was .007 air space between the coil and magneto and tightened down the screws of the coil.
Reassemblied all previous parts.
The mower started on the second pull..
