Product Description

?

This is a genuine OEM supplied replacement carburetor kit. It is used on Briggs and Stratton engines. The purpose of this part is to mix air and gas before the fuel mix goes to the engine. This kit includes a metal body carburetor, gasket and a choke assembly. (Does Not Include Gaskets) If the engine won't start and the tank is full of fresh fuel, test the carburetor by removing the air filter and pouring about a teaspoon of fuel into the carburetor. Pull the starter rope. If the engine starts and then quickly dies, the carburetor is likely the problem. To complete this repair you would need a screwdriver. • Remove the air filter cover • Remove the air filter base • Turn off the fuel • Remove the fuel line • Remove the throttle linkage • Remove the carburetor • Replace the throttle linkage • Connect the fuel line to the carburetor • Replace any damaged/old gaskets • Reassemble the carburetor and air filter base • Mount the carburetor and air filter base • Reinstall the air filter • Replace the air filter cover

I removed the air filter housing cover with screwdriver. Removed air filter and removed air filter housing by unscrewing two mounting bolts. Using a 13mm socket I loosened carburetor mounting bolts and removed carburetor. Mounted choke plate in new carburetor and mounted new carburetor with new gasket to engine. Connected throttle linkage , replaced air filter housing and airfilter. Put air filter housing cover on. Set choke lever to choke, pulled pulley rope and engine started. Has been running great ever since.

Gas cap replacement was simple; no explanation needed.
Removing the carburetor was also straightforward and I took a couple of pictures before I started so I had a good idea of how it should look after all was completed.Since I bought a complete new carb the replacement was straight forward although I had to reuse 2 gaskets that did not come with the new carb. One was the air intake filter frame to carb gasket and the other was the carb spacer block to cylinder head gasket. Both of my old ones were in reasonably reusable condition so not a big deal (I will replace them at a later date).
Tip - be careful when disconnecting the throttle rod and spring. Note how it was before you disassemble (picture). Unbolt the carb from the cylinder head, then disconnect the rod and spring. This will require a little juggling of the carb. but it is not difficult. Reassemble in reverse order.
