The governor spring attaches to the control bracket and helps to control the speed of the engine. This is an OEM replacement part for Briggs and Stratton engines and is available individually. It is a very small part made of metal and will need replacing if it becomes lost, bent or broken. While replacing the spring a screwdriver may be required to help in the installation.
