This is an authentic Briggs & Stratton replacement part manufactured for use with small engines. The timing key is used to fit into the slot on the crankshaft and into the key-way on the timing gear. This allows the timing gear to rotate with the crankshaft. The timing gear is available as an individual replacement part, please see model diagram for associative parts.
