Product Description

This is an authentic OEM part. The Briggs & Stratton governor spring is compatible with many lawn and garden engines. The metal spring provides the necessary tension for the throttle. This metal feature is sold individually. A screwdriver, pair of pliers and socket set are often used to make the replacement.

Since it is an 8 year old walk behind string trimmer that gets heavy use, I opted for a new carburator rather than fussing with the old. That with a fresh governor spring and it\'s a like new machine again! Simple remove and replace. Take a picture of the spring/linkage before removing if you\'re unsure about reassembly.

Pulled the rope cap and the top of the motor cover off. Then, replaced the throttle manifold, then cleaned the carburetor and put the new covers on.

Previously replaced carburetor.
Removed engine top cover, gas tank, then governor spring.
Installed new spring.
Replaced gas tank, top cover, examined vacuum hose,
Added gas to tank.
Engine now starts easily; still surges GÇ£a bitGÇ¥, will need further tinkering.

Removed the carb
Removed the carb bowl and used carb cleaner on the jets.
Blew compressed air through the jets.
Confirmed the needle valve was functioning properly.
Re-installed the carb
Replaced the governor spring
Primed and started the engine.
