Received new unit that replaced the old part number. Had to cut the end of the crankshaft 1/8\" from threads and installed new parts. Started engine and works fine. One thing that one needs to be told when you order is that it is not a bolt on replacement does take some time and effort. Was not difficult to do but should give customer s a heads up.
Received part quite fast. Real happy with the speed. Thank you.

22 year old recoil starter broken

Drilled out the 4 pop-rivets to remove the old recoil starter. Removed the engine shroud. Drilled and pan screwed the air deflector back to the engine shroud where the spot welds had failed. The on/off switch cracked and broke off - 22 year old plastic? The new parts assembly instructions were on 3 separate pieces of paper so some ass embly order was thoughtfully undertaken. Took the chain wrench to the old recoil hub on the engine crankshaft and wedged the drift punch into the cast cooling fins and removed the old recoil hub. The `X\' dimension telling me how much of the crankshaft extension to cut off was not listed anywhere so I dry-fit the parts to figure out how much crankshaft extension to cut off based upon interference with the new recoil starter assembly. Cut off the crankshaft with the hacksaw and a little 30W oil - a remarkably quick cut. Torqued the starter ratchet cone/debris screen onto the shortened crankshaft - the threads are set back so I did not have to chase them with a die. Went to True Value to get a new spst switch and Dunkin Donuts for a coffee. Once back I mounted the new starter recoil assembly to the engine shroud. Mounted the new on/off switch in the hole for the old switch, needed a pair of oversize washers as the hole for the plastic switch is huge. Wired the switch to the ignition and grounded it to a screw-hole in the shroud. Fitted up the engine shroud and bolted 3 of the 4 bolts. The 4th hole was a tear out so pop-riveted a keeper piece of flat stock to the shroud and bolted that down. Opened the gas petcock, flipped the choke on, turned the new switch to open (run) position and pulled it over. Started 2nd try and no crazy rubbing or whining metal on metal noises. Took it to the job site and ran it for 6 hours for the crew. We are still cleaning up from the last storm and one is due tomorrow so the generator is back in the shop just in case.

After waiting several days and on the day my part was to ship, I was notified that my part was on back order. I was equally surprised that you charged by credit card before you shipped my item but you did issue a quick refund when I emailed to cancel my order.
Due to your lack of communication and my expectation that my order would ship on the day you specified, I ordered my part from another vendor.

Thank you
