This is an authentic replacement part manufactured for use with small engines. The piston rings are used to form a seal between the crankcase and combustion chamber in the engines cylinder. The oil forms a small liner between the rings and the cylinder and the seal that the rings and oil film form prevent combustion gases from entering the crankcase. Damage to the piston ring can break the seal and can cause a loss of compression and prevent the engine from running or starting. This piston ring set is sold as an individual replacement part.
