?This manufacturer approved recoil starter pulley is designed for lawn and garden equipment engines. The recoil starter engages the drive cup on the flywheel to start the engine when pulled. This assembly includes: Plastic Pulley and a Metal Recoil Spring.

Have a screwdriver handy and turn the p ... Read more ulley assembly counter-clockwise until its taught, insert the screwdriver to keep the spring from unwinding and mount the shroud back to the engine. Once that\'s done, remove the screwdriver while keeping tension on the cord.
Reattach the cord to the mower handle.

The trick was to not let the spring unwind from the pulley.
The hardest part was to place the pulley on the motor and with spring upside down you have to get the end of spring to grab a stationary post.
You also had to be sure the pull rope ... Read more was wrapped perfect length on pulley for it to be right length after everything is assembled.
The recoil spring on the starter broke.

2. Removed the housing for the recoil starter.
3. Unbolted the pulley and the starter spring.
4. Installed the pulley and the spring.
5. Rotated the pulley.
6. Used a screwdriver to hold the pulley with the spring compressed.
7. Fed the starter rope through the hous ... Read more ing hole and the pulley hole.
8. Tied the knot to secure to the pulley.
9. Held the starter rope and removed the screwdriver.
10. Let the spring wind the starter rope.
11. Replaced the housings and started up the power washer.

Started by removing exterior housing, air filter holder, carb float bowl, gas tank and old pulley/spring ass ... Read more embly.
Replaced old pulley spring assembly and new rope.
Re-assembled unit, adjusted idle.
Good as new ! No problems.
Had 2 units to repair - similar except one replaced non- Autochoke carb
Doing your own maintenance on simple engines like these are a snap and saves many $s. Just need right tools and be willing to get hands dirty and an easy place to get replacement parts.

Disassembled pull starter assembly.

Reinstalled pull starter assembly, gas tank and engine cover.
