Removed, rebuilt, and replaced the carburetor. Removed and replaced the spark plug with a new plug. Replaced the air filter. Drained old engine oil and refilled with new oil.
The most difficult part of this job was ensuring the fuel tank was cleared of the old fuel. Once back together, the engine started on the first attempt and ran smooth as new.

R and R carburetor disassemble, CLEAN with spray cleaner, reassemble, install, and run it. main problem is vibration loosens carb mounting bolts, which allows caskets to be chewed up killing them. mower bought in 1996, carb first rebuilt 2006, and now 2016. I bought 2 kits, next one is for 2026. mower is a yardman 21\" self propelled w ith Briggs engine. They last almost forever.
