Hi Kevin, Thank you for your question. One yellow cap is the oil fill cap. It is used to keep oil in the tank. There is a yellow cap that is part the dipstick. The dipstick is used to measure the amount of oil in the engine. The tan cap is referred to as a plug. It is used to secure the oil tube on the less accessible side of the crankcase.
