This is an authentic Briggs & Stratton replacement part manufactured for use with small engines. The starter assembly is used to engage the flywheel to start the engine. The assembly includes the starter housing, pulley, rope, handle, and spring. This starter rewind assembly is sold as an individual replacement part.
1. Removed the fan shroud from the engine.
2. Drilled out the pop rivets from the OEM installation.
3. Reinstalled the fan shroud on the engine.
4. Placed the starter assembly on the fan shroud and centered by partially pulling the starting rope.
5. Attached the assembly to the fan shroud with pop rivets.
Took off the old starter housing.
Install new complete unit of spring, rope and housing with 4 small bolts.
