I removed the handle half, then located the brushes and springs. Removed them from the housing and installed the new ones. Replaced handle half. Drill is new again.

The sawzall hesitated to start and then when started was weak running.
Remove the brush caps from the saw, then the spring then the worn brushes. Then inserted the new brushes then the springs and screwed the brush caps on.

Purchased a used Milwaukee sawzall. It had some missing and worn parts.
Installed a new boot by sliding it over the gear case. I then replaced the blade clamp by screwing it to the blade shaft. Replace the shoe by screwing two screws into the gear housing and slid it in and tightening the screws with the the hex key. Throwing a lot of sparks; cutting a little crooked; Cord was cut a few times and was pretty short.
Removed brush cover and old brush; dropped the curved end into brush holder and screwed brush cover back on; Do the same for both brushes. Make sure you have inserted the curved end first.
Remove old cord; remover two screws holding cord clamp in place; disconnect wires; and replace with new cord. I soldered a loop connector on
... Read morethe green ground wire and put solder on the naked ends of the white and black wired. Make sure the cord protector is on. Screw in the cord clamp and screw in the ground wire.
Remove blade and old tires, replace tires aligning groves of tires with knobs on wheels.
Replace front and rear blade guides. Each has two screws.
Replace blade
1. Unscrewed the cover.
2. Removed spring and worn brush.
3. Installed new brush.
4. Replaced spring.
5. Screwed cover back on.
6. Repeat with other brush.

the forward/reverse switch broke and would not reverse
Followed instructions and replaced forward/reverse switch. Easy repair. Drill works like new. Also replaced brushes. The drill is an old friend, and I am glad I fixed it.
Removed brush holder cap with flat bladed screwdriver
Removed spring and worn brush
Replaced brush and spring
Threaded retaining cap
Repeated the procedure on the other brush.
Done. Five minute job
