Split drill case in half by removing the screws, then remove the gear and bearing shaft and keyless chuck. Place shaft in a vice add heat to the bad gear attach a gear puller and remove the gear and first bearing. I add some lube to the shaft and placed the new gear on the shaft and used a deep well socket and tapped the new in place the n added the bearing and used a deep well socket then tapped it in place. Reinstalled the shaft back into the drill and then put the drill back together. PS do not forget to add more grease on the gears.

Motor ran but drill chuck wouldn\'t turn under load

1 Removed drill chuck
2 Separated the case halves
3 Removed the damage gear and output shaft assembly
4 Removed the gear and one bearing by putting the shaft in the vise and using a punch to separate them [ make sure you notice which way the gear hub faces]
5 Installed the new gear using a socket to drive it on the n the bearing
6 Reinstall the output shaft assembly
7 Reinstalled the case halves
8 Reinstall the drill chuck
9 Test the drill, worked OK

Gear stripped in the DeWalt electric drill.

1. Opened the drill and removed the shaft with the bearing and gear.
2. Heated the gear with a torch and then, used gear puller to remove the bearing first. Then, pulled the stripped gear.
3. Lubricated the shaft and gear and used a deep socket to hammer the gear and the bearing back onto the shaft.
4. Works great!
