This is a genuine manufacturer-approved replacement drive shaft which is specially designed for use with Shindaiwa and Echo lawn edgers. The flexible drive shaft fits inside the housing in order to spin the cutting head, over time the square ends may wear out no longer properly engaging the gears and eventually requiring replacement.
