2. Removed screws and took case apart.
3. Removed chuck assembly from old gear box and installed on new one. note, the screw to remove chuck is reverse thread, would have been nice to know ahead of time.
4. Replaced gear and chuck assembly in case and re- assembled the case.

... Read morering on the bench, used schematic to identify as a tension spring but it was not clear where it went or what it did.
6. Took drill apart, scratched head, figured out where the spring went, provides back pressure to the drill/screwdriver switch.
7. Assembled drill again, after 20 years it still works like it was brand new, pay very close attention during disassembly, it saves a lot of time in the long run.
