Unit case and blade guard need to be removed before the gear housing can be accessed. There is a bearing for the transfer gear that needs to be removed from the old gear housing and installed into the new one before you reassemble the saw. I did this with a 6mm socket and a bench vise. Take caution, the armature will want to pull out when disassembling the gear housing. If this happens, be aware that there is a small spacer for the armature that sits down with the brushes, just be mindful that it needs to go back, if you don\'t put it back the drill won\'t work properly. Everything fits back together rather snug, so don\'t force anything, and don\'t over tighten the torx screws. If you over tighten them you\'ll know it and you will have to buy some lock tight. When the saw is complete and you go to test the saw it will make a funny sound? can\'t explain it, only know that it will go away, when I asked Milwaukee they said the parts were seating themselves. The noise doesn\'t last long, if it does continue Milwaukee said to disassemble and reassemble the saw, looking for any bushings or spacers that may have fallen out of place. It all worked for me the first time. It took about 1-1/2 hours to fix the saw.
