Bought a used drill press it was missing the table bracket assembly
Measured the column O.D. so I was sure I bought the right Part. While waiting for delivery I cleaned the column of rust and dings. On receiving the part, I removed the drill head. The head is pretty heavy, so make sure you are strong enough to press 50 lbs over your head!
Part slips over and down on the column and is bound in pla

Bracket Assembly casting partially broke away from the drill press post
The standing drill press is heavy and awkward, so safety first. Its best to have two adults to do the steps laying down the drill press or picking it up with no kids or animals around and plenty of open floor space so as not to trip and making sure all body parts are clear of the drill press. Unplug the drill press. Carefully lay the d
... Read morerill press flat on the floor with wood blocks under the head. Loosen set screws holding the head on the post. Remove the drill press head from the post. This may require some effort and besure not to hit any cast iron directly with a hammer. Set the drill press without the head back virtically. Remove the raise/lower linear gear collar and linear gear along with the broken bracket assembly from the post. Insert the new worm gear and shaft into the new bracket assembly as well as the linear gear. Place the bracket assembly with the linear gear and worm gear engaged with the linear gear over and onto the post. Slide the assembly down until the linear gear rod inserts into its bottom slide slot. Now slide the linear gear collar over and onto the post and into position over the linear gear and tighten the collar\'s set screw. There should be enough play between the collar and bottom slide slot to permit freedom of rotation for the bracket assembly. Lay the post assembly back on the floor and insert the post back inside the the drill press head. Ensure the post is all the way inside the head. Tighten the set screws on the head to firmly attach it to the post. Carefully reposition the drill press virtically and then loosen the head set screws on the head holding it firmly on the post. Align the head with the Post base plate and retighten the head set screws. Now place the worm gear crank on the worm gear shaft that should be sticking out of the bracket assembly and tighten its set screw. Place the drill press table back in its slot on the bracket assembly. Plug the drill press back in and you should be ready to go.
