Bolt broke off down in the casting

Gene from ATHOL, Idaho

1 person found this instruction helpful.
Difficulty Level:
Very Difficult
Total Repair Time:
30 - 60 mins
Tools:
Socket set, Wrench set
Drilled a hole in the broken bolt and tried to use an easy out which broke off in the hole. So then I mig welded a nut to the bolt and twisted it out with a 3/4\" wrench. It took 3 tries before I got a strong enough weld to do the trick. If the casting hadn\'t been aluminum the welding trick probably wouldn\'t have worked. Put it all back together and it works as designed.
