The steam release valve on a pressure cooker can either be in the sealed position or in the release position (open). Pressure will not build if the steam release valve has not been switched to the sealed position. This valve should be inspected each time you are about to use your pressure cooker, as it is very important that it is not clogged with debris. This is the steam release valve only, and is sourced from the original manufacturer.
