They also have a role in electric breaking; they can momentarily reverse electrical polarity. Because switches use mechanical internals, they will degrade and wear out over time, eventually requiring replacement. ... Read moreever been replaced before then there is plenty of wire length, just cut the two wires free from the old switch terminals. Strip the wires and solder them to the new switch. Account for every strand of the wires, no shorts. It is critical that the wires\' polarity is maintained or the drill will be damaged. Be careful with reassembly to be certain that nothing will short when the case is closed. Well worth the effort.
