Hi Tom, Thank you for your question. If your air compressor does not build pressure past 55lbs, the issue may be with the reed or check valve, but there are some parts that you will need to check to see which one is causing the issue. We recommend checking the exhaust valve assembly, the regulator, the pressure switch and the rod assembly. We have included a link from our website that you may reference on how to check these parts. 2. Removed old check valve (unscrewed w/ socket set).
3. Taped new check valve treads and screwed it back in the compressor.
4. Reattached both lead pipes to check valve.
