Pretty much common sense, at first used the cylinder supplied with the kit and when it built air pressure it blew past the gasket. Used the old cylinder which was a slightly smaller diameter and it worked great! Very happy! Took an old compressor that someone was throwing away, put in the new gasket and it works like new!

Ordered new valve plate and cylinder kit
Reassembled unit reusing old head gasket with a small amount of a g ood sealant.
I let the unit sit for a day let sealant cure, then fired it up to 135#
