Its purpose is to ensure the air that goes into the unit is free of dust and other contaminants. Over time the filter may get dirty and clogged restricting the airflow, inspect it periodically and replace as needed to maintain peak performance. Please note this high-quality component is made of durable foam material and it is sold individually.
