This is an original replacement part manufactured for use with Craftsman air compressors. The special filter is used to prevent dust or debris from entering the air intake on the cylinder head of the compressor's pump. This air filter should be changed during normal maintenance, and is available as an individual replacement part.

Hi Ed, Thank you for your question. If your air compressor will not build pressure, there are some parts that you will need to check to see which one is causing the issue. We have researched the model number that you have provided and the manufacturer recommends a non detergent oil such as SAE-30 (API CG/CD Heavy Duty) or SAE-10 for winter conditions. It can be a cause of low pressure, but you may also want to check the gaskets, the reed valve, the filter, and the piston.
