?This replacement fan is a genuine OEM sourced item that is specially designed for Bostitch air compressors. This is the main fan which connects to the crankshaft helping to cool the engine. Please note the motor fan and the hardware to secure these parts are sold separately. This fan is made from durable black plastic and it is sold individually. To complete this repair you will need a hex key also known as an allen wrench to remove and secure the screw that holds the fan.

Failed bearing in piston

Small metal reed valves had failed. Compressor would only pump to 65 PSI.

2. Removed 2 screws and 2 bolts with the nuts that secure the cylinder head.
3. Removed the cylinder head to replace the damaged valve plate assembly.
4. Removed the intake reed valve from the top of the piston and replaced with the new part.
5. ... Read more Installed the new gasket between the valve plate and the head.
6. Reinstalled the bolts and the screws that hold the head and the torque.
7. Removed one screw on the piston rod and installed the new cooling fan.
8. Reassembled the cover and test ran. All worked fine.

3. Had to take the reed valve (head) off to install the connecting rod and piston seal.
4. Tapped the rod bearing on the crankshaft.

Be extra careful when working with the ... Read more head(reed valve) to be sure they don\'t get out of place.
Fan/connecting rod evidently slipped off bearing destroying fan and putting excessive wear on piston ring. Also fan pieces sucked into prison and melted onto reed valve.

Removed head and broken fan.
Pushed piston up thru top of cylinder
Cleaned piston head w/ brass wire rush to remove melted plastic. Also cleaned cylinder w/ fine steel wool. Replaced piston ring, reed valve & fan.
Tap connecting rod onto bearing. You may also want to order the head g ... Read more askets. Do not overtightened heads.
Be sure to tighten all fittings to prevent air leakage.
Reassembled cover, plugged unit in and it pressured right up to 140psi.
