Replace lower boiler. But needed to drill out special screws that held the base cover plate since I could find the special tool bit locally. That was the most difficult part... replacement of boiler was rather easy, since I was able to reuse the o-ring seal .
Almost completely stripped the machine.
Remove the old lower boiler.
Installed the new part.
Put the coffee maker back together.
DeLonghi told me it could not be fixed. I found the parts on eReplacementParts and whalla. Fixed it for a fraction of the replacement cost.
