Product Description

?

This manufacturer sourced carbon brush is a genuine replacement part, not an aftermarket equivalent. It is specially produced for Porter Cable and Delta saws. Replacing brushes can fix a motor that's operating intermittently. New brushes can restore a motor's electric braking. When replacing brushes it is a good idea to inspect your armature for burns, cracks, or other damage which can indicate other issues with the motor. It is recommended to replace both brushes at the same time. This item includes one carbon brush with a lead wire and a spring attached. Please note, brush holders are sold separately. Replacing this carbon brush you will need a screwdriver to get the job done. • Ensure the saw is unplugged • Remove screws that secure the cover • Remove the motor housing • Remove the old brush • Install the new brush • Reassemble and test the saw

Replacement Parts web site was a big help, indicating that there was a 90% chance the problem was with the on/off switch. I ordered the motor brushes just in case the switch was not the problem, and assuming I might need them eventually anyway. I removed the old on/off switch, and replaced with the new switch. Old switch had only 2 con nections (Single Pole SIngle Throw I assume) but the replacement one had 4 connections (double pole single throw). I connected to 2 of the 4 connections (one of the 2 poles) of the replacement switch, reassembled and motor started right up with the new switch.
