This is a genuine OEM sourced replacement part which is specially made for use with Makita hypoid saws. This part fits with the bearing box. Over time a spring may loose its tension so it will not be able to function as intended. At this point it should be replaced. This is a metal spring and it is sold individually.
I received the parts in 5 days and was able to make the repair successful avoiding having to replace the saw. I just followed where the part were supposed to be installed by looking at the parts diagram. So easy

Used the new o-ring, washer, spring and cap, and it all snapped right back into place with no more grease leaking out. Just needed a small screwdriver to help slide the o ring back into place. Took all of about 5 minutes
