This part is sold individually. The motor housing attaches to the carbon brush. A screwdriver might be helpful during the installation of this item. It will need to be replaced if it becomes broken. This is a genuine Makita replacement part for use in saws.

Great part! Just wish all parts for this saw were available
This part worked out perfectly! Only problem is that the screw anchors for the handle broke as I unscrewed the handle for the repair and the handle is un- available so i had to put bolts through the handle. Also, be sure that you have some long bent nose pliers to take the little springs for the graphite bar housings on the inside where you see the brass holes in picture off and on.
