Product Description

?

Genuine DeWalt replacement part. rnIncludes 1 Carbon Brush with wire lead and terminal in rubber sheath attached.rnrn • Worn brushes are frequently the cause of a poorly running motor. • Replacing brushes can fix an intermittently operating motor. • New brushes can restore a motor's electric braking. Carbon motor brushes are one of the most commonly replaced power tool parts. The reason is that carbon brushes are wear items, meaning that through friction and use they will gradually wear away and eventually will need replacing. Worn brushes are a common causes of intermittent motor function, reduced electric braking and reduced motor power. A worn-out brush will often be worn down near to the wire lead and can be cracked, pitted, or burned. When replacing carbon brushes, also check your armature for burns, cracks, or other damage which are indications of a larger motor problem needing attention.

Remove the screws as the new clamshell doesn\'t come with screws. Which is ok. Didn\'t replace the brushes, after years of use, the originals were just slightly worn. Took care in routing wires from the switch through the new handle ( clamshell) and screwed the 2 halves together. Removed the foot and rubber cover and replaced the blad e locking lever. Very easy.

Removed old handle by taking out the screws separating the halves. Remove brushes by pulling back the spring metal that holds them in . With the spring metal held back slide your new brush in then let the spring metal push against the end of the brush to hold it in with it\'s spring tension. There is a positive and negative brush make sur e you plug them in correct. There is a plus indicator mark for the positive side you will be able to see it. Then put both halves together and tighten screws. Do over tighten because it is only plastic

Had to take entire case apart. So you know, the nut on the bottom of the gear shaft is a left handed thread. Removed the nut, then the gear and shaft. This all tied into the mechanism that operates the blade shaft up & down. Kind of tricky getting them apart at first, but did come apart nice. Line the shaft and the mechanism back up, lock together and slide shaft & gear back into place. Reinstall the nut, (lefty threads) and put case back together. Not too bad of a job, took approx. 10 - 15 minutes. Make sure to pick through the gear grease in the case, while apart. I found quite a few gear teeth mixed in with the grease, from the old gear. I got all the old junk out, and then added some new grease prior to reassembly.

Also... I had to put circular saw in the \"tool type\" because it \"did not\" have a reciprocating saw as an option. Maybe \"R.P.\" should add that as an option!

I took the still apart and realize that the brushes have welded themselves to the brush casing. As I tried to remove the brush it cracked the brush housing. I then ordered new brushes new springs and the brush holder and installed everything after carefully brushing down all the parts and cleaning everything. Put it all together and it wo rks fine
