As pictured, this item includes everything you need to replace a brush in your power tool. The brush, holder, terminals, and spring are included and ready for installation. If you only need the carbon brush and not this entire holder assembly, you can purchase the brush separately (see the 'Related Items' section below). This brush and holder is compatible with the tools listed below, but it is not guaranteed to fit any other power tools. It is advised that you replace both brushes only if you think all you need is one.

Saw would not start.

1. Removed the brush holder to find a section of the brass burned away.
2. Replaced with two new holders.
3. Saw started fine, but brake was not working.

After attempting the Dewalt suggested remedies, short of replacing the armature and or field winding, I rechecked both holders. Found one of the brass spade lugs , on one of the holders, had passed by, instead of into the receiving connector. This particular lug was part of the brake circuit, had it been the other lug, the saw would not have started at all. Make sure the two lugs on each holder are lined up and watch that both mate properly with the field connections. The saw is now working like new.

Remove motor end cover. replace brushed and brush holders. Replace motor end cover.

The brush holder had broken and saw would not operate.

1. Removed the brush cover piece.
2. Removed the brushes wires.
3. Pulled out the old brushes and holder out.
4. Cleaned all the dust out of the brushes cavity.
5. Pushed the new brushes holders in.
6. Pushed the new brushes into the brush holder.
7. Screwed the brush holder cap into place to hold the spring tension.
8. Placed the cover piece back on the saw.

Brush assy holder burnt into

1. Remove motor end cap with star drive big (after unplugging saw)
2. Remove brush access cap (plug) with large flat screwdriver
3. Remove brush
4. Pull out assembly with pliers
5. Push in new assembly all the way
6. Push in new brush; push in and screw brush cap with large flat screwdriver.
7. Plug in saw.
8. Start up saw. While holding trigger down, clean built up carbon off armature with stone by touching it to armature and sliding it back and forth across top of armature. This will make the brush seat evenly.
9. Replace motor end cap
10. Happy sawing.

The saw suddenly stopped working.

I tested the switch ,it was ok. I found that I had trouble with the brushes. I ordered both brush assemblies. I found that one of the brass tabs was burned thru. I removed the brush and holders with needle nose pliers. It works fine. I used for two hours today.
