I purchased a Skil 5500 Circular Saw with a bad cord for little money. Thinking I could just order a new cord and replace it, I felt I got a great deal. Little to my surprise the cords are obsolete and no longer available. I then checked the 5550 model and found the parts are compatible with the 5500, the handle on the 5500 is also molded

to accept parts from the 5550. I ordered the Grommet, Screws and Cable Clip, and purchased a new cord from the local big box lumberyard. The wires are attached to the switch using a \"push in\" type connection, no screws or eyelets. I used a paperclip to release the old wires from the switch, and found they are tinned, (solder coated). I installed the grommet on the new wire and checked wire for fit. I then tinned the wires on the new cord and pushed them into the connection points, and reassembled using the new clip and screws. All parts fit perfectly. This is a great fix for a 5500 saw with obsolete parts.

ything that could assist me. So I just went slow and after further review of the wire connection to the switch I noticed a small hole next to each of the wires.
I have done alot of residential wireing and recognized that the hole was the same as on plugs and switches and was there to help in the removal of the wires. I took a small pointed tool.. put it slowly in the hole and pressed down and at the same time I pulled the wire out. I suggest taking a picture
