Carbon brushes are one of the most commonly replaced power tool parts. This is because carbon brushes are wear items, meaning that through friction and use they will gradually wear away until they need replacing. Worn brushes are a common causes of intermittent motor function, reduced electric braking and reduced motor power. A worn-out brush will often be worn down near to the wire lead and can be cracked, pitted, or burned. When replacing carbon brushes, be sure to inspect your armature for burns, cracks, or other damage which can indicate larger motor problems.

Removed the two small screw that secures the brush holder in the motor housing and disconnected the wire connections. Placed the new brush holder in the housing, in the same place, connected the wires and tightened the two small screws. Installed the new brushes in to the brush holders and and screwed the brush caps into the brush holders

Remove caps that hold the brushes.
Make sure brushes fit nice. Mine were a little tight so I sanded the sides to make them fit easily and they move freely.
Place brushes into the motor and replace caps.
Removed old brushes installed new brushes.
Removed two bolts that hold saw to base. Slide pin to side and installed new spring.
Slide pin back into place and installed the two bolts that hold saw to base.
