This item has been sourced from the original manufacturer and is intended to be used with chipper/shredders from Bear Cat. The metal chipper blade attaches to the large rotor weldment and is used to cut and chip at the material being fed through the machine. This item is sold as an individual replacement part.
Removed the guard in front of the blades, took out old blades and installed new ones. Lining up the holes for the new ones is always kind of tricky but I used a small screw driver to line up one side and installed the screw into the other tight enough to hold the blade in place, then got the back screw in. The only difficult part of this replacement was trying to hold the blade in place while getting the bolt threaded on to the blade due to the very small clearance, A handy technique we found was to hold the blade with the vise grips and install it by putting the front of the blade upside down and loosely fasting it. Removed the existing chipper blades using 1/2\'\" box end wrench. Used a pipe extension for leverage and small crowbar to hold the hammer wheel in place.
Installed the new blades in the same manner.
Sharpen the dull chipper blade and will use as spare.
