This is an authentic replacement part manufactured for use with Poulan chainsaws. The ignition module is used to produce an electric charge when magnets in the flywheel pass the ignition module. The electric charge is sent to the spark plug to combust the fuel inside the cylinder. A faulty ignition module will cause trouble starting or can prevent the motor from starting at all. This ignition module is sold as an individual replacement part.

I replaced the magneto coil.
Mounting holes did not line up. I had to file out the holes to make it fit.
Tool runs fine now.
I recommend using an in-line spark testor to determine if ignition is working.
