This part is an OEM from Craftsman for use with Chainsaws. The recoil starter hub spring fits between and connects the starter hub and pulley, and applies tension to turn the starter. The most common reasons for replacing the spring start is if the starter rope won't recoil or rewind after pulling or the starter rope won't retract fully back into the housing. This part is sold individually. Here is a list of tools that are needed to replace the recoil starter hub spring a Phillip's screwdriver, Torx drivers, long-nosed pliers, scissors or wire cutters (optional), safety glasses and protective gloves.
