Product Description

?

This is an authentic Craftsman replacement part. The metal piston ring is compatible with many chainsaw devices. This part has been designed to work as a seal between the piston and the engine\\\'s cylinder wall. If piston ring is broken or worn, it will cause gases to escape and enter the crankcase. In turn, this would create low compression and a decrease in power, possibly stalling out the engine. A set of wrenches, pliers and a screwdriver are needed in completing the repair. This item is sold individually.

(Allready had the crank out of the housing)

Installed new ring

(Attempted to create a makeshift clamp, but the face of the bore wasnt flat enough to use)

Seated piston inside bore, back slanted for pressure against the ring (the piston will be prevented from entering the bore due to the ring. Make s ure not to crush the ring, it will break. The back face of the piston will be depressed against the housing to push the right and left sides out)

Used small flathead to depress the right side of the ring

Rotated counterclockwise to provide pressure to the right side

Depressed left side

Provided even downforce to the crank perpendicular towards vice (into the bore)

* The ring is relatively brittle, therefore I suguest using some lubricant on the walls of the bore. It will take patience and accuracy to complete, and will most likely break on the first try. Buy at least two and put it in a vice for stability.
