i took the chain brake cover off and the bar and chain off also and positioned the saw on its side and secured it in my bench vice and removed old spring and worked the new one through the channels of the clutch and re attached using 2 needle nose vice grips to hook the ends of the spring together,seemed to work well for me, took about 30
